Femur Fracture and Recovery
Physical therapy is under rated in how much it can help you reclaim your life from the grip of pain. On our blog, we love to celebrate this by sharing success stories straight from our patients (with their permission, of course!)
About Jerry
After a serious fall and a fractured femur, Jerry came to us relying on a rolling walker just to get around. Through determination and focused therapy, he gradually regained his strength and endurance, eventually walking independently—no walker needed! Today, Jerry enjoys daily bike rides at home and, along with his wife Libby, spends quality time with their beloved Collies, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren. His journey back to an active, fulfilling life is a testament to the power of persistence and the right support. Let us help you get back to the life you love, too!
Our goals for Jerry’s physical therapy treatment
In listening to Jerry’s goals, Jerry’s PT, Hunter, put together a treatment plan that helped him:
Work to walk with a single-point cane when needed
Improve hip strength and endurance
Ability to stand on his own with minimal sway or loss of balance
Here’s what Jerry shares about reaching his goals through physical therapy at NCCPT.
What was your initial goal when you first came to physical therapy?
“I want to be able to walk without the assistance of a cane.”
How did your physical therapist help you succeed in reaching your goal?
“I am now able to walk without the assistance of a cane. I am able to do what I want for an 86-year-old guy. I feel confident to walk again.”
We were so glad to help Jerry walk with no assistance again. He is one of our many patients that we’ve partnered with in the past 10+ years of our clinic.
